Were you looking for a kid dessert recipe? Something easy that a child could help out with? Here is a simple Mexican dessert recipe your little one can definitely help with.

I call it Mexican cinnamon tortilla treat.

For the most part, kids love to help out in the kitchen. I know mine did when they were little. Measuring ingredients, stirring, and working with their hands is a wonderful learning experience.

Start them young and they will develop a love of cooking and you will create wonderful memories to last a lifetime, not to mention lifelong cooking skills.

So pull out your aprons and let’s get started.

Cinnamon Tortilla Treat

  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 Tbs sugar
  • butter
  • small flour tortillas, 8 in. fajita style

In a small bowl mix sugar and cinnamon together. Melt butter and brush on tortilla. Sprinkle sugar mixture over the buttered area and roll tortilla up. As you roll up tortilla, spread butter on the other side.

Once rolled up, sprinkle with more sugar/cinnamon mixture.

Place tortillas on a cookie sheet.

Parents should help or supervise cooking this dessert especially placing it in the oven.

Cook in preheated oven at 375 degrees F for 5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

If you have left over cinnamon and sugar mixture, save it in a cup for future use on cinnamon toast or even apple pie.

Mexican hot chocolate would be delicious served with this kid dessert recipe. Kids love to eat ’em. Adults too.
