Cooking Measurements in Table Form

This cooking measurements page was developed to help you in making your recipes especially if you are modifying a recipe. For example you may want to cut my Chile Verde recipe in half. These measurement conversions may help you do the job easier.

Cooking Measurements

  • 3 tsp. = 1 tablespoon 1/16 cup
  • 1 1/2 tsp. = 1/2 tablespoon
  • 2 Tbsp. = 1 fluid ounce = 1/8 cup
  • 4 Tbsp. = 2 fluid ounces = 1/4 cup
  • 6 Tbsp. = 3 fluid ounces = 3/8 cup
  • 5 1/3 Tbsp. = 5 Tbsp. + 1 tsp. = 1/3 cup
  • 8 Tbsp. = 4 fluid ounces = 1/2 cup
  • 10 Tbsp. = 5 fluid ounces
  • 12 Tbsp. = 6 fluid ounces = 3/4 cup
  • 16 Tbsp. = 8 fluid ounces = 1 cup
  • 1 cup = 8 fluid ounces = 1/2 pint
  • 2 cups = 16 fluid ounces = 1 pint
  • 2 pints = 32 fluid ounces = 1 quart
  • 2 quarts = 64 fluid ounces = 1/2 gallon
  • 4 quarts = 128 fluid ounces = 1 gallon
  • 16 ounces = 1 pound
  • 1 cup = 48 tsp. = 16 Tbsp.

Measurements For Butter

  • 1 cube = 1/2 cup = 1/4 pound
  • 1 cube = 8 Tbsp.= 24 tsp.
  • 2 cubes. = 1 cup = 1/2 pound
  • 4 cubes = 2 cups= 1 pound

Other Ingredient Equivalents

  • Chocolate chips 1 cup = 6 ounces
  • Grated cheese 1 cup = 4 ounces
  • Whipping cream 1 cup un whipped = 2 cups whipped
  • Egg whites 8 – 10 = 1 cup
  • Onions 1 medium = 1/2 cup
  • Rice 1 cup uncooked = 3 1/2 cups cooked
  • Beans 1 cup dry = 2 1/2 cups cooked
  • Spaghetti 7 ounces = 4 cups cooked
