May 4, 2007 10:07 - Goody's Santa Maria Style Salsa - Sent in by Justin Goodwin

Justin sent in this recipe for some delicious salsa. Thanks for sharing.

Salsa is a great dish to whip up this time of year with all the fresh vegetables in season. So here is one for you to try.

Goody's Perfect Santa Maria Style Salsa

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (28 oz.) stewed tomatoes

  • 1 small can (6 oz.) diced Ortega chiles

  • 1 large jalapeno

  • 3 large cloves garlic (peeled)

  • 1/4 to 1/2 white onion (optional)

  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaves

  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano

  • 1 small lemon

  • salt

Directions:

Remove seeds and stems from Jalapeno. In a blender, pour in the juice from the can of tomatoes and Jalapeno. Blend on high until an even texture is achieved.

Add tomatoes, cilantro, and Ortega Chiles*.

Pulse blend until salsa is blended well, but is still chunky. Salt to taste.

Chill immediately. Great for steak, tri-tip sandwiches and chicken. * For chips, add in one large avocado during the last step.
