March 3, 2006 10:50 - Irresistible Caramelized Onion Appetizer

I gotta tell you about these fantastic little appetizers I had at a party last week. I mean they were unbelievably delicious. They were so good I thought I was eating dessert. And you know what? They are store bought from my favorite store - Trader Joe's.

These tasty tidbits are called Pastry Bites with Feta Cheese and Caramelized Onions. You've got to try these. I had to restrain myself from not eating the whole plate of them. They are that good.

I even ran out the next day to find them. So now I have a box sitting in my freezer and I can't wait to have or go to some function where I can make them. Something tells me that I won't even wait.

I will probably make them today after my son gets home from school. Unfortunately there are only 12 in the box. He can have a couple.

If you ever need a great appetizer and you have a Trader Joe's in the neighborhood these are a definite thumbs up.

March 14, 2006 16:56 - Perky Pork Chops

Here is a pork chop recipe sent in by a visitor.

  • 4 loin pork chops, about 1 inch thick

  • salt, pepper and flour

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1/4 cup chopped onion

  • 2 tablespoons chopped green bell pepper

  • 3/4 cup pineapple juice

  • 1/2 cup ketchup

  • few drops of Tabasco sauce

Directions:

Combine flour with salt and pepper. Coat chops with the seasoned flour. Heat skillet over medium heat with oil, brown chops on both sides. Drain off excess fat. Combine 1/4 cup hot water, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon pepper, pineapple juice, ketchup and Tabasco sause. Pour over pork chops. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour or until pork chops are tender.
Serves 4

Sounds like a tasty recipe.

Now Something Funny...
